1998-2003 Sienna Van Front Speaker Replacement

Over time the factory speakers can begin to deteriorate making them no longer produce the sound they once did. Below we will go over how to replace the factory speakers in the front doors of a 1998 - 2003 Toyota Sienna van.

Before you begin we will want to make sure we have all the parts needed to replace the speakers. We need:

New 6-1/2" speakers
Speaker replacement brackets
Speaker replacement harness (optional)
Door panel clip removal
Phillips screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver

1) Remove Arm Rest

Make sure the windows are rolled all the way up. Disconnect the positive side of the battery. Using the door panel remover gently pry the front of the arm rest up until you hear and feel the clips release. Once that is done working from the front to the rear reach under and pull straight up until you rear the clips release and the panel is free.


2) Remove Power Lock/Window Bezel

Using a flat head screwdriver or narrow pry tool. Gently pry the front of the panel straight up until it releases. Pull the unit towards the front until the rear clip is free.


The passenger side has two connectors. Using a flat head screw driver press down and remove the power door lock plug. gently press down on the connector while you pull it off. Repeat the same step for the power door window plug.



Drivers side has one connector. Using a flat head screw driver press down and remove the power door lock plug. gently press down on the connector while you pull it off.



3) Remove Door Handle Bezel

Using a Phillips screw drive remove the screw located behind the handle. Using your door panel remover gently pry under the base of the door handle and above the door lock. Move back and forth between the two locations until the the bezel is released.


4) Remove Door Light

Using the door panel remover gently pry out on both sides until it releases.


Once you have the light removes you will push in on the clip to release the light


5) Remove Screws Under Arm Rest

Locate the two screws located under the arm rest removed earlier and remove them.


6) Remove Door Panel Screw

Using a door panel removal tool pry the cover of the screw cover off and remove the screw behind this cover


7) Release Door Panel Clips

Using a door panel removal tool put the tool between the door panel and door frame and pull outward releasing the clips. Work your way around the door until all clips have been released.


8) Remove Door Panel

Once all the clips have been released pull straight up on the door panel to remove


9) Release Speaker clips

Pull the plastic weatherproofing material back a little so you can reach the speaker connector. It is a white plug with two wires going into it located about 12 inches above the speaker.

The passenger side will have Blue/Green wires
The drivers side will have Purple/Pink wires


10) Remove Speaker Clip From Door

Using your pry tool gently remove the speaker clip from the door


11) Remove Speaker Screws

Release the three screws holding the speaker in place


12) Mount Speaker Bracket To Door

Using the factory screws secure the speaker replacement bracket onto the door

13) Speaker Connection 

If choosing to cut and splice the plug connector skip to step 14.

Plug the one end of the speaker connector into the vehicle harness

13) Connect Speaker 

Connect the speaker wires to the speaker

15) Mount Speaker Bracket To Door

Using the screws supplied with the speakers secure the speaker to the speaker replacement bracket.


16) Assemble Door Panel

Put the door panel back on by reversing the above steps
